Nothing appears in the Gui

  1. First, make sure that the Master process is actually running on one machine on your network. If the Master process is not running, no other Smedge component applications will operate.
LinuxUse ps or your favorite process list program to look for SmedgeMaster.bin
WindowsUse the Task Manager to look for SmedgeMaster.exe
  2. Make sure that there is no firewall software running on your machine, or that you have opened up the firewall to allow Smedge 3 component applications to communicate with each other.

The SmedgeMaster process listens on port 6870 by default. The other ports are dynamically determined by the system as they are needed.

See the FAQ Does a software firewall interfere with Smedge operation?

  3. If SmedgeGui can connect to the Master, but you don't see any of your Engines make sure that the SmedgeEngine process is running.
LinuxUse ps or your favorite process list program to look for SmedgeEngine.bin
WindowsUse the Task Manager to look for SmedgeEngine.exe
If it is not running, try starting it. More information is available in the FAQ None of my Engines are showing up.
